Elmer Striker

Hastings resident, Elmer Ellsworth Striker, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at The Kensington, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Monday, January 7, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Tony Dawson officiating. Private burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to Start Over Rover of Hastings or Hastings Alcoholics Anonymous. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Elmer Ellsworth Striker entered this world May 19, 1927 as the son of Ellsworth "Jinx" Striker and Frances "Dolly" (Hardy) Striker on the Hardy homestead at Ericson, Nebraska. Elmer served in various capacities throughout his earthly life: baker, over the road trucker, and Hastings taxi driver for several years until his retirement. He loved gardening, landscaping, and animals, such as his beloved cat, Mittens. From previous marriages, he had five children. The last union was to Marilyn Mae Coufal on September 3, 1983 and they divorced in 1997, but still remained close friends.

Awaiting Elmer in heaven will be all of his ancestors, his parents; sisters, Lola Caskey and Edna Scarborough; daughter, Sheila Black; and great-grandson.

Friends & staff at The Kensington. If you ever visited The Kensington, you could not miss "Fudd", he was the one with the twinkle in his eye and a banana in his overalls.
