Elsie Nyce

October 18, 1917 — November 26, 2007

Hastings resident, Elsie H. Nyce, 90, of 1504 Crestmoor Drive, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Monday, November 26, 2007; 1:30 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. William Nottage-Tacey officiating. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, rural Hall County, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, November 25, 2007; 6P.M.-8P.M. with family present at the funeral home and Monday, November 26, 2007, 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Nyce was born October 18, 1917 in Campbell, Nebraska to Alexander & Katherine (Rehn) Koch. At the age of 16, she graduated from Campbell High School and attended Business College for one year and received her Real Estate license. After high school graduation, the family moved to Greeley, Colorado, where she worked in real estate and insurance. On July 1, 1939, she married Merlon Nyce in Estes Park, Colorado and he preceded her in death in 1979. In 1941, they moved to San Rafael, California. They returned to Nebraska in 1945 and farmed in the Giltner, Trumbull & Hastings area. They moved to Doniphan, Nebraska in 1955 and retired to Hastings in 1976. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Nyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merlon; son, Rev. Duane Nyce in 1996; a brother, Arnold Koch, a sister, Marjorie Coats and a daughter-in-law, Jan Nyce.
