Emil Kohout

April 18, 1917 — October 21, 2010

Hastings resident, Emil A. Kohout, 93, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, October 25, 2010; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Adam White officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2010; 2:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., and 1 hour prior to service at Butler-Volland Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to Nebraska Children's Home. Condolences may be sent to www.lbvfh.com. Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

Emil was born April 18, 1917 in Saline County, Nebraska to Emil & Mary Kohout. He graduated from Friend High School in 1935. He served in the infantry in both theaters of operation during World War II, from January 23, 1941 until October 21, 1945, earning the bronze star. Emil married Iola Belau on October 24, 1953 and together they had a daughter and two sons. During the years he was employed with Gamble Robinson as a salesman then later at Carmichael Construction Company where he retired. Emil & Iola spent the next 20+ following years doing what they loved "Wooden Specialties", a home based business. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings. He was also a member of the V.F.W., D.A.V., and the American Legion.

Emil was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lad Kohout.
