Hastings resident, Emil N. Mangers, 93, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Thursday, May 13, 2010; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 14, 2010; 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Roseland, Nebraska with Father Thomas Au officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Roseland Cemetery, Roseland, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 12, 2010; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.; Thursday, May 13, 2010; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Emil was born August 22, 1916 on the farm near Roseland, Nebraska to Henry & Lucy (Gilles) Mangers. On June 4, 1941 he entered the Army where he was a sergeant, and was honorable discharged on October 22, 1945. During his military service he received a purple heart. On October 28, 1947, he married Nora Sullivan at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Heartwell, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on June 3, 1987. He was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was very active in the church. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, past member of the V.F.W., and past member of the Eagles Aerie #592.

Emil was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nora Mangers; son, Paul Mangers; grandson, Steven A. Mangers; two brothers; and five sisters.
