Ernest Kapustka

Hastings resident, Ernest A. Kapustka, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Sunday, June 26, 2016; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, June 27, 2016; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Caleb La Rue officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations and U.S. Marine Corps Burial Detail will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, June 26, 2016; 1:00 P.M. a�" 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Ernest was born December 23, 1936 on a farm west of Elyria, Nebraska to Anton & Eva (Sobon) Kapustka. He graduated from Ord High School in 1955. Ernest served in the U.S. Marine Corps from September 22, 1955 until March 31, 1975. He married Lola Hall on August 17, 1959 in Santa Ana, California; she preceded him in death on January 25, 2013.

Ernest retired as a Gunnery Sergeant for the U.S. Marines in 1975. He went on to retire from Metz Bakery and worked part time as an auto mechanic. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lola; daughter, Eva Curry; granddaughter, Ashley Curry; sons-in-law, C.J. Penner and David Griffin; and sister and brother-in-law, Elinor & Lloyd Zikmund.
