Ernest Reiner

Hastings resident, Ernest P. 'Ernie' Reiner, 84, of 1826 Bateman, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion.

Rosary will be Monday, June 23, 2008; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, June 24, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2008; 1:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. & Monday, June 23, 2008; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present at 6:30 P.M. at the funeral home & Tuesday, June 24, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church or American Legion Baseball Program.

Mr. Reiner was born September 1, 1923 in Adams County, Nebraska to Michael & Katherina (Unger) Reiner. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1941. He attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from Milford Trade School, Milford, Nebraska. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from May 20, 1944 - May 13, 1946. On May 10, 1950, he married Ruth Harrenstein and she preceded him in death on April 13, 2002. He worked for Hastings Industries as a tool & die maker and was a group leader for 36 years and then for Big 'G' Ace Hardware for 12 years. He was a life long Adams County resident and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, V.F.W. and served on the American Legion Baseball Committee for many years.

Mr. Reiner was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth, four brothers and two sisters.
