Esther Burr

November 1, 1929 — January 4, 2005

Hastings resident, Esther (Hermann) Burr, 75, of 3015 Lake Park Lane, died of a stroke on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be Saturday, January 8, 2005; 10:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Frank Kerkemeyer officiating. Private family interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, all in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mrs. Burr was born to Gus & Augusta (Berndt) Hermann on November 1, 1929 at rural Holstein, Nebraska. She attended Christ Lutheran School at Juniata, Nebraska and was confirmed there on May 9, 1943. She graduated from Juniata High School in 1947. On November 20, 1949, she married Duane Burr at Christ Lutheran Church, Juniata. Following high school and in the early years of her marriage, she held various bookkeeping jobs, including City National Bank in Hastings. She lived with her husband on a farm northwest of Juniata. She was a homemaker and helped her husband with the farming. In 1992, they retired and moved to Hastings. She was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was active in the women's groups of the church. She had been actively involved in the Adams County Extension Goodwill Club, Christian Women's Club, YWCA, Kenesaw Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a Canasta card club.

Mrs. Burr was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation in honor of her
sisters or to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be deeply missed.

Visitation & book signing: Fri. 1-7-05; 3pm-9pm with family present 6:30pm-8pm.
Sat. 1-8-05; 1 hr. prior at the church
