Esther Erickson

December 30, 1911 — September 6, 2007

Former Hastings resident, Esther L. (Jones) Erickson, 95, of Adams, Nebraska, died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at Gold Crest Retirement Center, Adams, Nebraska.

Services will be Monday, September 10, 2007; 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Harvey officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, September 9, 2007; 3pm-9pm with family present 6pm-9pm at the funeral home & Monday, September 10, 2007; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to ABW of First Baptist Church, Hastings or the Hastings Museum.

Mrs. Erickson was born December 30, 1911 on a farm near Hordville, Nebraska to John Alfred & Dora C. (Rydson) Jones. She attended country school, and graduated from Hordville High School in 1930. She was baptized and joined the First Baptist Church at Hordville in 1923. On April 20, 1931, she married Milburn W. Erickson in Aurora, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2005. After briefly living in York and Grand Island, Nebraska, they moved to Hastings in 1942 where she joined the First Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School, served on the Diaconate Board, was a member of the choir, served on the music committee, and belonged to the Lydia Circle. She sold for Minnesota Woolen Clothing for many years, and worked as curator of exhibits at the Hastings Museum, retiring in 1974.

Mrs. Erickson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Milburn; two sisters and two brothers.
