Esther Lau

Hastings resident, Esther A. Lau, 94, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Services will be Sunday, October 9, 2011; 4:30 P.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery, Rural Juniata, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, October 8, 2011; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Memorial Committee-Zion Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to www.lbvfh.com. Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

Esther was born December 1, 1916 in Sidney, Nebraska to Walter & Molly (Herman) Brauer. She graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1934 and then graduated from beauty school. Esther married Frederick Lau in April 1942 at Zion Lutheran Church in Hastings. She owned her own business as a beautician and worked as a hair stylist for the Hastings Regional Center. Esther was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), and was a past member of the Business and Professional Women. She was a wonderful mom and good friend.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Marvin & Kenneth; infant sister; and great-grandchildren, Madeline, Francis, & Gabe.
