Ethan was born February 20, 1936, in Harvard, NE to Ray and Dorothy (Moore) Moorhead. He graduated from Hastings High School. Ethan married Peggy Ann Brand on January 1, 1954; she preceded him in death on October 23, 2014. They were married 60 years before her passing.
Ethan worked several jobs prior to moving to Texas to work in the oil fields. He delighted in jobs working as a crane operator. Upon returning to Hastings, Ethan worked in maintenance for Hastings Equity Grain Bin Co. for one and one-half years. He then worked for Hastings Industries for 15 years. He started Lucky’s Welding in 1973. Ethan was a very successful businessman. He was past President of Hastings Car Club; taking great pride in driving the grand marshalls in the parades. He managed the fairgrounds and was a volunteer fireman and storm spotter in Hastings. He taught Sunday school at the Free Will Baptist Church. He mounted the “Tiger Jet” at the Hastings Airport. He engineered many projects including his amphibian boat, truly one of a kind! Ethan has always loved fishing, hunting, pool, dominos, and socializing with people, frequenting Bulleyes and the Eagles. His stories will be missed by all.
