Eugene Maunder

February 15, 1932 — October 21, 2009

Hastings resident, Eugene William Maunder, 77, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be Monday, October 26, 2009; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association.

Eugene was born February 15, 1932 in Hastings, Nebraska to Charles Eugene & Ester (Bishop) Maunder. He graduated from Hastings High School and then joined the Air Force for four years during the Korean conflict. He married Charlotte Blair in California and worked for the Rocketdyne as a fireman and LA county Water & Power. He moved to Beaver City, Nebraska and became owner of the Beaver City Meat Locker. He moved to Hastings and worked at the Hastings Museum. Later divorced, then moved to Texas. He married Nell Taylor, retiring from the border patrol and lived there for 30 years before returning to Hastings in October 2009.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Maunder; and wives, Charlotte Maunder and Nell Maunder.
