Eugene Reitz

Juniata resident, Gene Reitz, 74, of 3305 North Liberty Avenue, died Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Rosary will be Monday, March 2, 2009; 7:00 P.M. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Doniphan, Nebraska. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 3, 2009; 10:30 A.M. at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Doniphan with Father Ramon Decaen officiating. Burial will be in Cedarview Cemetery, Doniphan, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2009; 9:00 A.M.- 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings, & 4:00 P.M. with family present from 5:00 P.M. until rosary at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Doniphan, and Tuesday, March 3, 2009; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Ann's Catholic Church.

Gene was born March 20, 1934 in St. Edward, Nebraska to John & Marjorie (Korns) Reitz. He was raised at St. Edward and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1951. On November 21, 1951, he married Patricia 'Pat' Workman. They lived in Hastings, Grand Island, Doniphan and Juniata. He worked at Wilson Concrete and Island Supply in Grand Island and owned and operated Reitz Welding in Doniphan. He worked for Gottsch Cattle Company in Juniata for 23 years, working until a month ago when his health failed. He enjoyed golfing, radio controlled model airplanes and watching his grandchildren activities. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
