Eunice Langvardt

Hastings resident, Eunice Wiley Langvardt, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Service will be Saturday, December 13, 2014; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church, Hastings with Rev. Charles M. Webster officiating . Private family burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Hastings College Foundation for the Art & Eunice Langvardt Scholarships or First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Friday, December 12, 2014; 6:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. with family present at the funeral home.

Eunice June (Wiley) Langvardt was born to Ethel (Graves) and Floyd Emerson Wiley on February 7, 1920 in Junction City, Kansas. A graduate of Junction City High School (Class of 1936), she attended Emporia State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas. Eunice married Arthur L. Langvardt on June 11, 1941 in Junction City, Kansas. During their 71 happy years together they lived in Hill City, Kansas; Junction City, Kansas; Manhattan, Kansas; and Hastings, Nebraska when Arthur joined the Hastings College faculty. They also made their home briefly in Boulder, Colorado while Arthur completed graduate degrees. Together Eunice and Arthur lovingly raised three sons and one daughter. Eunice as a mother and grandmother was patience-personified, selfless and always smiling. Eunice valued her participation in PEO - Chapter GZ, American Literature Club, Presbyterian Womens Association and activities at Hastings College. She cherished the good friends she made there over the years.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur L. Langvardt; and three brothers, William Richard Wiley, James Graves Wiley, and Floyd Eugene Wiley.
