Euteva Baker

October 15, 1924 — January 8, 2015

Hastings resident, Euteva "Toby" Baker, 90, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her home.

Services will be Monday, January 12, 2015; 10:00 A.M. at Grace United Methodist Church, Hastings with Pastor Cindy Karges officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, 2015; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. with family present 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Toby was born October 15, 1924 in Bayard, Nebraska to James & Ceness Lee. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1943. Toby married Glen H. Baker Sr. on December 8, 1943 in Topeka, Kansas; he preceded her in death on January 6, 2008. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Toby was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star- Hastings Acacia 39 and Ruth Circle at Grace United Methodist. She was also a member the Naamah Temple of the Daughters of the Nile. Toby made the 'best ever' brownies from her own secret recipe. Love was the special ingredient. Outside of her family, her passion was art. She did many pencil sketches of her children and grandchildren and painted when time permitted. She took great joy in making everyone happy, including anyone she met. Her greatest passion of all was giving loving care to her family and she especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, giving them lots of love and kisses with plenty of sweet treats.

Toby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Baker, Sr.; and children, Beverly and Rodney.
