Eva Krebsbach

August 2, 1918 — January 29, 2018

Hastings resident Eva S. Krebsbach, 99, passed peacefully to eternal life on January 29, 2018, at College View Assisted Living & Memory Support, Hastings, NE.

Rosary is 7 p.m. Monday, February 5, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection is 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 7th & Creighton in Hastings, with Fr. Jeremy Hazuka officiating. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for later designation.

Eva was born August 2, 1918, near Lawrence, NE to William and Dora (Ostdiek) Hoelting, their second child. She attended St. Stephen's School in rural Lawrence. On October 5, 1948, she married Norbert J. Krebsbach at St. Stephen's Church. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1994. She was a homemaker and a caregiver for the Geyerman family for many years.

Eva was devoted to her family and enjoyed baking bread, cookies, rolls and other treats for family and friends. She also enjoyed embroidering, walking, and bird watching. She especially loved cardinals and had an extensive collection of figurines and cardinal items. She was an active member of St. Michael's Altar Society and served funeral luncheons at the church until her late eighties.

Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert; and nine brothers, Daniel, Leroy, Vernon, Arthur, Francis, Richard, infant brother, Eldon and Victor Hoelting.

She is survived by two sons, Jim (Cathy) and Tom, and cherished as a daughter, Carol (Pat) Michael, all of Hastings. Her three grandchildren are Katie (Keith) Wemhoff of Wichita, KS, Kelli (Geoff) Hirsch of Brighton, CO and Jon (Rachel) Krebsbach of Meriden, KS. She also has nine great-grandchildren with another expected this summer. They are Ben & Meghan Wemhoff, Lilly and Norah Hirsch, and Sophia, Lucy, Zelie, Caroline, and Maura Krebsbach. Other relatives include her two sisters, Eileen Buescher and Marie Choquette, and her brother, Leonard Hoelting, four sisters-in-law, Doris, Imelda, Jolene and Kay Hoelting, brother-in-law Adrian Choquette and many nieces and nephews and their families.
