Former Hastings resident, Evan M. Heyen, 22, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska from a pulmonary embolism surrounded by his family.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 8, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers and Pastor Adam White officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, December 7, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. with family present; a prayer service will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
Evan was born November 17, 1992 in Hastings, Nebraska to Don & Leannette (Suhr) Heyen. He graduated from Adams Central High School in 2011 and attended University of Nebraska Lincoln majoring in history education. While in school, Evan worked part-time at State Farm Insurance in Lincoln processing claims. Growing up, he was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings. Evan loved life. He surrounded himself with people he loved and was a great son, brother and friend. Evan had a lot of favorites including the Huskers, the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Music was an important part of Evan's life and he loved to play his guitar and sing. Evan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
