Evelyn M. Horton

Former Hastings resident Evelyn M. Horton, 89, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at CHI Health-St. Francis, Grand Island, NE.   

Rosary will be at 9:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, December 4, at the funeral home, and one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Foundation.

Evelyn was born April 13, 1934, in Holstein, NE to Lawrence and Helen (Kaiser) Parr. She graduated from Roseland High School. Evelyn married LaVerne Horton on January 19, 1953, at Assumption Catholic Church in Assumption; he preceded her in death on April 27, 2011. Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVerne Horton; son, Creighton Horton; daughter, Barbara Horton; great-granddaughter, Margaret Ann McDermott; sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Jerome Konen; brothers and sister-in-law:, Gary Parr, Eugene and Marge Parr, Dave Parr, and Ron Parr; and brothers-in-law, Bernard Parr, Glen Horton, and Richard Horton.
