Evelyn Plein

August 22, 1917 — March 26, 2007

Former Hastings resident, Evelyn M. Plein, 89, of Federal Way, Washington, died Monday, March 26, 2007 at The Village Green Retirement Campus, Federal Way, Washington.

Memorial Mass will be Monday, April 16, 2007; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Private family interment will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Book signing will be Sunday, April 15, 2007; 1pm-9pm with family present 6pm-8pm. Memorials may be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church or Hastings Public Library.

Mrs. Plein was born August 22, 1917 in Inland, Nebraska to George B. & Katherine (Kindsfater) Stimbert. She spent her early years on the family farm in Inland, where she attended school, graduating in 1935. In 1936, she moved to Hastings and resided there until moving to Federal Way, Washington in August of 2004. On August 14, 1939, she married Walter J. Plein at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1987. Evelyn was employed for many years at J.C. Penney Company. She retired from the Hastings Public Schools after 17 years of employment. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and the Chat & Sew Club.

Mrs. Plein was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter, two brothers, Clayton & Elwin Stimbert and a sister, Helen Bruns.

Grandson & Spouse: Scott & Gennie Darby - Puyallup, WA
Great Grandson: Andrew Darby - Puyallup, WA
