Fara Carpenter

Harvard resident, Fara J. Carpenter, 90, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.

Services will be Thursday, October 2, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, Hastings with Pastor John Whitsett officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 1, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene.

Fara was born June 23, 1924 in Clay County, Nebraska to George B. & Bernice (Fowler) Barta. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1941. Fara married Glenn G. Carpenter on January 1, 1943; he preceded her in death on June 29, 1979. She worked at the old Lincoln Elementary School in the lunchroom for many years and was affectionately known as the "lunchroom lady." Fara was a longstanding active participant of Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene; she taught children's Sunday school and was involved with ladies bible study and vacation bible school.

Fara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn G. Carpenter; son, Jerry Carpenter; daughter, Joyce Carpenter; and sister, Juanita R. Buffett.
