Hastings resident, Florence 'June' Gulzow, 85, of 1226 N. St. Joseph, died Sunday, May 14, 2006 at her home.
Services will be Thursday, May 18, 2006; 10:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. William E. Deahl, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, both in Hastings, Nebraska.
Mrs. Gulzow was born June 22, 1920 in Sterling, Colorado to Lewis & Alma (Bowers) Stover. She attended Hastings and Kearney Public Schools and graduated from Hastings High School in 1938. She attended Hastings College and graduated from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Teacher's College in 1940. While at the University, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She taught English, French and Journalism in Ord, Norfolk and Grand Island, Nebraska. On August 22, 1949, she married Harold K. Gulzow in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Hastings in 1951. In 1958, she began teaching English at Hastings Junior High School and retired from teaching in 1980. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, University of Nebraska Alumni Association, Hastings College Alumni Association, Acacia Chapter No. 39 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nebraska State Retired Teachers Association and Hastings Area Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling, reading and belonged to several bridge groups.
Mrs. Gulzow was preceded in death by her parents.
