Florence Saathoff

Hastings resident, Florence "Flossie" A. Saathoff, 89, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard, Nebraska.

Services will be Friday, March 15, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Parkinson's Disease Foundation or First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 13, 2013; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Thursday, March 14, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church.

Flossie was born January 18, 1924 in Prosser, Nebraska to Harry & Annie (Lawson) Spencer. She graduated from Hastings High School. Flossie married Herbert Rant Saathoff on March 1, 1942 in Glenvil, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on December 26, 1993. She was a homemaker and owned and operated Saathoff Home Furnishings with her husband. Flossie was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, was a Girl Scout and 4-H leader, an officer with the Women's Bowling Association, Altrusia, YWCA Board Member, and started Hastings Parkinson's Support Organization where she received an honorary plaque for her years of service. She was involved in several card groups and was active in several church activities. Flossie enjoyed fishing, flower gardening, and being around and having conversations with people.

Flossie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Rant Saathoff; and one brother, Harry Spencer.
