Francis Pavelka

Hastings resident, Francis "Frank" C. Pavelka, 83, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Sunday, August 18, 2013; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Funeral Home, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 19, 2013; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings with Father Matthew Rolling officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be at Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Mary Lanning Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitation will be Saturday, August 17, 2013; 9:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Sunday, August 18, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church.

Frank was born July 17, 1930 in Pauline, Nebraska to William & Matilda (Novak) Pavelka. Frank grew up in Pauline and Lawrence, Nebraska before moving to the Hastings area. Frank served in the U.S. Navy from May 5, 1948-February 16, 1950. In 1948, he married Bonnie Martin at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Frank was co-owner of Pavelka Brothers Blacksmith Shop for 42 years. Frank was an avid fisherman and hunter loving the outdoors. He was loyal to his family and friends and was a very honest business man. Frank was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Willard; and one sister, Carolyn.
