Frieda Smith

Former Hastings resident, Frieda Smith, 91, of Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska, died Monday, January 16, 2006 at Blue Hill Care Center.

Services will be Friday, January 20, 2006; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.

Mrs. Smith was born August 16, 1914 in rural Adams County, Nebraska to Harm & Anna (Gartner) Johnson. She married Minie Classen on July 29, 1936 and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1972. On June 12, 1984, she married Fay Smith and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1987. She owned and operated Fairmont Ice Cream store and was a cook at the Reno. She was a life long area resident and a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband, Minie Classen & 2nd husband, Fay Smith; 4 brothers, Hank, Harm, John & Walter Johnson and two sisters; Marie Wortman. & Ida Kleier.
