G. Elley

Hastings resident, G. Roger Elley, 71, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Thursday, December 8, 2005; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 9, 2005; 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan and Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, all in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mr. Elley was born April 9, 1934 on a farm in Frontier County, near Stockville, Nebraska to Guy Burton & Olive Mae (Loshbaugh) Elley. He graduated from Stockville High School in 1951. He married Joan Lennemann on June 12, 1956. They moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1959. He owned and operated Elley's Auto Sales & Service from 1959 to 1991. They moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1991 and was a Knights of Columbus Insurance Agent until 1993. They returned to Hastings in 1993 and he was a salesman for Kerr Chevrolet. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Honorary Life member of the 3rd & 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the Eagles Club. He was a former Board Member of Hastings Catholic Schools, former member of Hastings Catholic Activities Association, St. Cecilia's Parish Council and past president of The Columbian Holding Company. He enjoyed fishing, camping and being with his family.

Mr. Elley was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Elley; two nephews, Tim Elley & David Fowler; one niece, Tammy Tackwell.
