Roseland resident, Gale E. Gangwish, 76, of 9430 South Banner Avenue, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Nebraska Heart Institute Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Thursday, February 1, 2007; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2007; 9AM-9PM, Wednesday, January 31, 2007; 9AM-9PM with family present from 6PM-8PM & Thursday, February 1, 2007, 9AM until service time, all at Butler-Volland Funeral Home. Memorials to Silver Lake High School Scholarship Fund, American Heart Association or Donor's Choice.
Mr. Gangwish was born June 7, 1930 in Hastings, Nebraska to Albert & Clara (Penn) Gangwish. He grew up in Juniata, Nebraska and graduated from Roseland High School in 1948. He attended the University of Nebraska, College of Agriculture in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1948-1950. He joined the United States Navy on January 4, 1951 and served in the Korean War aboard the USS Wedderburn. He was honorably discharged on November 1, 1954. He attended Hastings College from 1955-1958, graduating with a Bachelors degree in Physics & Mathematics. He worked for Philco, which later was bought by Ford Aerospace & then Loral, as an aerospace engineer. He retired in 1992 and moved to Roseland, Nebraska, where he spent his retirement years building his house.
Mr. Gangwish was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale Gangwish.
