Rural Glenvil resident Gale Hager, Jr., 84, went to heaven on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at Hospice of the Valley, Surprise, AZ.
A Memorial Service for Gale will be held 2 P.M. Monday, June 17, at First United Methodist Church in Hastings with Rev. Dr. Samuel R. Rathod and Jim Donley officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Valley, 14066 West Waddell Road, Surprise, AZ 85379 or Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 West Thunderbird Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351.
Gale was born December 1, 1934, to June (Howey) & Gale Hager, Sr. at York, NE. He graduated from McCool Junction High School where he participated in both football and basketball. After a 42 year career with Lincoln Telephone Company, Gale and his wife Barbara enjoyed traveling across the U.S. in their motorhome. Working on cars, building a kit car, landscape work in his yard, and making barn wood craft items were some of Gale’s hobbies. Fall Saturdays were all about Cornhusker football for Gale and he attended many games.
Gale was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE, Methodist Men’s Group, Hastings Evening Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award. He was also a member of Hastings Eagles and Elks Clubs.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Chapman; and son, Ron Hager.
