Gary Johnson

Kenesaw resident Gary Weylin Johnson, 65, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

Memorial Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 20, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Paul Duffy officiating. Book signing will be 9-5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Weylin was born October 11, 1952, in Big Spring, TX to John C. & Juanita (McSmith) Johnson. He graduated from Carrizozo High School in Carrizozo, NM in 1970 and received his certification in mechanics from Lincoln Technical Institute in Phoenix, AZ. Weylin married Lavona Bednorz and to this union, three children were born.

Weylin was employed as a plant manager for Phoenix Casting & Machining Inc. Prior employment included Scott Motors in Alamogordo, NM, Active Technologies (ATI) in Alamogordo, NM, Coleman Power Mate and Bradson Industries in Hastings, NE. Weylin took great pride and joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing board games with his family, camping, fishing, watching Nebraska volleyball, and car racing. Weylin was an avid weather watcher and enjoyed photography and nature.
