Hastings resident, Gary W. Reiber, 80, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Grand Island Lakeview Care & Rehabilitation Center, Grand Island, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, June 16, 2017; 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr. Memorials may be given to Faith Lutheran Church for the paving project or Start Over Rover. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.
Gary was born August 8, 1936, in Hastings, Nebraska to Elmer & Esther (Cornelius) Reiber. He married Betty Kort on May 8, 1955. Gary was employed by the City of Hastings as a firefighter and retired from the fire department after 25 years. He also started his own antenna installation and repair business.
Gary was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Nebraska Trap and Skeet Association, and a life member of National Rifle Association. He was an avid trap and skeet shooter and loved shooting sports, fishing and was a lifelong hunter. Gary was the 1982 State Trap Champion in the handicap division.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; daughter, Valerie Reiber; son, Gregory Allen Reiber; twin grandchildren, Sarah & Jessica Reiber; and two nephews.
