Former Hastings resident, Gary G. Stark, 76, of Gering, Nebraska passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at Regional West Medical Center, Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, May 23, 2014; 10:00 A.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering with Father Gerald Harr officiating. Services will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014; 10:00 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to Knights of Columbus 3rd & 4th Degree, Gering, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday, May 26, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home. Gary was born on July 27, 1937 in Hastings, Nebraska to Fred and Virginia (Stone) Stark. He received his early education at Alcott School, graduating from Hastings High School in 1955. Gary entered the U.S. Navy on July 12, 1955 and was honorably discharged on April 17, 1975. He married Marlis Buhr on February 10, 2004 at Hastings and made their home in Gering, Nebraska. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Gering, 3rd-4th Degree Knights of Columbus; Elks Lodge, American Legion and life member of the VFW. He also was a member of the Catfish-Western Plains USSVI and Big Red Subs Club-USS Nebraska.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Stark; and step-daughter, Sandra Buhr.
