Former Hastings resident, George F. Jahnke, 94, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Nebraska Masonic Home, Plattsmouth, Nebraska.
There will be no visitation or services. There will be a private family burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings.
George was born December 25, 1917 in Western, Nebraska to Frank & Martha (Gadow) Jahnke. George grew up in the Western area and graduated from Western High School in 1936. He served in the US Army. On June 1, 1941, he married Leva "Lee" Fritz in Western, Nebraska. They lived in Fairbury and Falls City before moving to Hastings in 1945. They owned and operated Jahnke's Agri-Home Center from 1947-1990. George was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a founding member of the Lamplighter's Sunday School class.
Mr. Jahnke was preceded in death by his wife in 2004; parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Delverna (Carl) Henk, and Lil (Ernie) Hinzmann.
