George Person

Grand Island resident, George V. Person, 92, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Grand Island Veterans Home, Grand Island, Nebraska.

Services will be Thursday, December 27, 2012; 10:30 A.M. at Grand Island Veterans Home Auditorium, Grand Island with Pastor Dan Bremer officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery, west of Glenvil, Nebraska. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Grand Island Veterans Home Auditorium. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Church, Grand Island, Nebraska.

George was born September 1, 1920 in Williston, North Dakota to George & Marie Person. He married Delores Stamer Placke on April 16, 1954. George served with the U.S. Army. In 1980 George and Delores moved from Omaha to Grand Island. He worked as a surveyor for the United States Government Bureau of Reclamation. While in Grand Island, George helped his step-son Arnold Placke Jr. at the Brick Bar. George was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion in Superior, Nebraska.

George was preceded in death by his parents; half brother, Gunner; half sister, Mary; step-sons, Larry Placke and Arnold Placke Jr.; and step-grandson, Mark Placke.
