Hastings resident, George E. Shutt, 72, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2014; 2:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday, March 24, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Crossroads Mission.
George was born August 31, 1941 in Deshler, Nebraska to Rei V. & Rhena C. (Voss) Shutt. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1959 and Nebraska Vocational Technical School in Milford in 1962 with a degree in auto mechanics technology. George married Sandra J. Frerichs on March 8, 1989. He worked at Kerr Chevrolet and retired from Farmland Industries after 35 years of service. George was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Southern Hills Golf Course, Eagles and a life member of Elks.
George was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Julia True.
