Gerald Branting

Hastings resident, Gerald B. "Bob" Branting, 88, died, Friday, August 8, 2014, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Services will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Pastor Greg Lindenberger officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Adams County Burial Detail or Pediatric Brain Cancer Research. Visitation will be Monday, August 11, 2014; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bob was born April 18, 1926 at Polk, Nebraska to Clifford & Iva (Beck) Branting. He graduated from Polk High School in 1944. Bob served in the United States Navy from October 1944 through June 1946. He attended and graduated from Coyne Electric in Chicago, Illinois. Bob married Sevila M. Webb on August 28, 1947 at Osceola, Nebraska. They lived in Grand Island, Nebraska from 1947 until moving to Hastings, Nebraska in 1961. Bob worked as lineman and Area Manager of Southern Nebraska Rural Public Power District from 1947 - 1988. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Post #1346, American Legion Post #11 and Eagles Aerie 592 all of Hastings, Nebraska.

Gerald B. "Bob" Branting was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lorrel Branting, Maurice Branting, Willard Branting, Mervin Branting, sisters; Francis Stromberg, Anna Belle Swanson and his twin sister, Geraldine Hancock.
