Hastings resident, Gerald F. 'Jerry' Classen, 73, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at his home after a long battle of cancer.
Services will be Friday, September 24, 2004; 10:30 A.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Frank Kerkemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska, 2:30 P.M.
Mr. Classen was born September 23, 1930 on a farm near Glenvil, Nebraska to Fred & Bernice (Kober) Classen. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1947 and served in the United States Navy from February 12, 1951 to February 11, 1955. On April 4, 1959, her married Norma Heil in Loup City, Nebraska. They moved to Hastings in 1968. He worked for K-N Energy for 44 years, retiring in 1992 as Superintendent of metering. He was a member of First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Eagles and V.F.W.
Mr. Classen was preceded in death by his parents.
