Gerald Hamik

Hastings resident, Gerald "Jerry" A. Hamik, 69, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Sunday, February 26, 2012; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 27, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be in Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2012; 3:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Jerry was born May 23, 1942 in Atkinson, Nebraska to Joseph & Clara (Ziska) Hamik. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Atkinson in 1959. Jerry moved to Hastings in 1959. He married Sharon Stubbe on September 7, 1963 at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings; she preceded him in death on September 5, 2009. Jerry worked many years at Berck's Muffler Shop; where he later retired. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sharon Hamik; and great-granddaughter, Kiara Roman.
