Gerald Parr

Hastings resident Gerald J. Parr, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, NE.

Rosary is 7 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Hastings Catholic Schools Foundation. Visitation will be 9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday with family receiving friends and relatives from 5:30-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gerald was born June 9, 1926, in Juniata, NE to Peter & Bertha (Bonifas) Parr. He graduated from Roseland High School in 1944. Gerald served in the U.S. Army from September 26, 1946, to March 22, 1948. He served 18 months in Korea achieving the rank of Sergeant. Gerald married Lucille M. Mousel on October 6, 1951, at Assumption Catholic Church in Assumption, NE.

Gerald was employed as a tool and die maker, machinist, and engineer for Hastings Industries, working there 28 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus 4 ^th Degree, Elks Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard Parr; three sisters; and three brothers.
