Geraldine Claussen

Hastings resident, Geraldine M. "Gerry" Claussen, 91, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Thursday, July 7, 2011; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 8, 2011; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2011; 6:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Thursday, July 7, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Michael's Catholic Church, or The Kensington, Hastings, Nebraska. Condolences may be sent to www.lbvfh.com. Livingston-Butler-Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

Gerry was born August 23, 1919 in Madison County, Nebraska to John & Caroline (Lintner) Uphoff. She graduated from Madison High School in Madison, Nebraska and then attended Wayne State Teacher's College. Gerry married Harold Claussen on May 22, 1946 at St. Leonard's Catholic Church in Madison, Nebraska; Harold preceded her in death in 1989. She taught school for four years at a rural school in the Madison area, two years at the consolidated schools in Madison County, nine years at Hastings Catholic Schools, and was a para-professional for 20 ½ years at Alcott School, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Altar Society.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Claussen; and two brothers, Victor & Donald.
