Gerardine Dorothy (Brown) Johns died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Rosary is 7:00 P.M. Friday, August 1, 2014, at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, August 2, 2014, at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in the Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska. Visitation will be Friday, August 1, 2014, 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Juniata Cemetery Association.
Gerardine was born to Henry A. and Cecilia (McCormack) Brown in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received a Business Associate Degree from a junior college and spent some time as a bookkeeper. She was united in marriage to Arthur L. Johns at Holy Name of Mary Church in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 25, 1952. Arthur preceded her in death on August 30, 2002. Gerardine was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Legion of Mary Auxiliary.
Gerardine was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cecilia Brown; husband, Arthur L.; son, Stephen G.; daughter, Mary Cecilia Johns Conn; three brothers, Stanley Brown, Henry Brown, and John D. Brown; six sisters, Monica Spurlock, Mary B. Brown, Ursula Quirk, Margaret Strassal, Catherine Brown, and Yvonne Weeks; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
