Gertruth Kettner

Gertruth I. Kettner, 94, of Perkins Pavilion, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at Perkins Pavilion.

Services will be Wednesday, November 23, 2005; 10:00 A.M. at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, with Pastor John Lee Ross officiating. Burial will be in Glenvil Cemetery, Glenvil, Nebraska.

Ms. Kettner was born January 29, 1911 to Rev. L.H. & Emma Amanda (Bethke) Kettner in Brookfield Township Hector, Minnesota. After the death of her father, they moved to Morgan, Minnesota. She graduated from Morgan High School in May of 1927 and from St. Paul-Luther College in June of 1931. She also graduated from Biblical Seminary in New York with a Master of Religious Education. She was a secretary to the President of the American Lutheran Church at Columbus, Ohio for 5 ½ years. She was commissioned in St. John Lutheran Church of Morgan, Minnesota as a missionary to India on January 17, 1937. She served under the Board of World Missions of the American Lutheran Church in the South Andhra Lutheran Church of India for 35 ½ years, 23 of these in evangelistic work among women, and the rest of the time in student work, as superintendent of Christian Hostels for students attending SRI Venkateswara University in Tirupati and doing Student Center work. She moved to Good Samaritan Village on July 29, 1972 and became a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. She wrote two books, 'Memoirs of a Missionary in India' and 'The Adventures of Rama the Frog'.

Ms. Kettner was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, six sisters, five brothers, stepsisters and stepbrothers.

Memorial may be given to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd or Good Samaritan Village

VISITATION: Tue. 11-22-05; 9am-9pm
Wed. 11-23-05; one hour prior to service at church
