Hastings resident, Glen D. Nelson, 91, of 1540 Apache, died Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Services will be Monday, February 2, 2009; 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Marcus Mackay officiating. Burial with military rites will be Monday, February 2, 2009; 2:30 P.M. in Stockholm Swedish Cemetery, Fillmore County, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, January 31, 2009; 5:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M., Sunday, February 1, 2009; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 4:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Monday, February 2, 2009; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. A memorial will be established.

Mr. Nelson was born June 6, 1917 to Andrew & Anna (Ekdahl) Nelson in Ong, Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during WWII from September 11, 1941 until October 13, 1945. On September 7, 1946, he married Freida Frank in Belleville, Kansas. He was a farmer in Clay County, south of El Dorado, Nebraska and a member of Peace Lutheran Church, V.F.W. in Hastings and the American Legion in Sutton, Nebraska. .

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Wencel & Dale and a sister, Irene Peterson.
