Hastings resident, Glen L. Thomas, 77, of 505 Lane I, died Friday, September 14, 2007 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Private family memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Thomas was born July 3, 1930 in Burr Oak, Kansas to Earl G. & Ruby E. (Boitnott) Thomas. He graduated from Esbon High School, Esbon, Kansas in 1949. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951 and retired on June 18, 1970. On August 11, 1956, he married Patty L. Herndon at the First Christian Church in Lebanon, Kansas. He was a barber and also the elementary school custodian in Lebanon. After the closing of the school, they traveled to Arizona & South Dakota where he was grounds keeper at RV Parks. He was a member First Christian Church in Lebanon and attended the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hastings. He was also a Master Mason Western Star Lodge #174 in Smith Center, Kansas, Scottish Rite Valley of Salina Orient of Kansas in Salina, Kansas & Order of Eastern Star Chapter #168 in Phillipsburg, Kansas. He moved to Hastings in 2005.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Derald Thomas.
