Glen Weide

Hastings resident, Glen Robert Weide, 79, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society, Wood River, Nebraska.

Memorial Service will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016; 11:00 A.M. at ButlerVolland Chapel, Hastings, with Rev. Dr. Lee R. Wigert officiating.Private family burial will be inHighland St. Patrick's Cemetery, rural Hastings. Book signing will be Tuesday, December 27, 2016; 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present. Memorials may be given to the Glen R. Weide Memorial Fund.

Glen Robert Weide was born June 13, 1937 to Arthur Berthold & Anna Marie (Krause) Weide at Revillo, South Dakota. He lived and went to school in Revillo and worked at a local gas station. After graduating from High School, he worked at a car dealership in Watertown then came to Omaha with Bruce Sime to attend Universal Trade School. After trade school he went to work for Rosen-Novak Chevrolet. Shortly after, he met his future wife Barbara J. Petersen and they married on March 12, 1961 in Omaha. In1971, Glen left the dealership and went to work as a mechanic for the Omaha Public Power District for 33 years. After retirement he continued working on cars at home until about three and a half years ago. Glen & Barbara moved to Hastings in 2014 from Omaha to be near family. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local# 763 in Omaha. He was in Memory Care for over a year and then hospitals and a nursing home since then.

Glen R. Weide was preceded in death by his parents.
