Hastings resident, Glenn E. Bosley, 96, of 1125 N. Colorado, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Thursday, April 27, 2006; 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. William E. Deahl, Jr. officiating. Burial will be Thursday, April 27, 2006; 3:00 P.M. at Guide Rock Cemetery, Guide Rock, Nebraska.
Mr. Bosley was born August 20, 1909 in Clifton, Colorado to Glen & Jessie (Rigg) Bosley. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1926 and on July 28, 1932, he married Helen Portenier in Concordia, Kansas. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska in 1935. He was a teacher and school administrator for 45 years. He taught in school districts in Eckley, Mascot, Haigler, Lawrence, Palisade, Orleans, Hemingford, Callaway, Lodgepole, Dalton, Arthur, all in Nebraska. He received his Masters of Education in 1953 from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and took Librarian courses from the University of Utah. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Nebraska Teachers Association and was treasurer for District 5. He was also a member of the National Teachers Association, Hastings Area Retired Teachers, School Administrator Association. He was a past member of Rotary International and Lions Club. He played semipro baseball as a catcher and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball. He particularly enjoyed contact with former students and teachers.
Mr. Bosley was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Gwendolyn Fleharty & Verda Isabel Shepherd and one brother, Norman Bosley.
