Hastings resident, Gordon A. Myers, 82, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.
Services will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation will be Monday, November 4, 2013; 1:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
Gordon was born February 15, 1931 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Albert D. & Marie (Brewer) Myers. He graduated from Emmetsburg High School. Gordon served and was a Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps from November 4, 1947 until November 3, 1951. He married Jeanine Laux on July 13, 1952 at First Christian Church in Hastings, Nebraska. Gordon worked for Roberts Dairy as a salesman and route driver before his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, V.F.W., and American Legion. Gordon was very proud of being one of the "Chosin Few".
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Lois Creveling, Charles Myers, Audrey Edwards, and Kathleen Thompson.
