Harold Bassett

Hastings resident, Harold C. Bassett, 82, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial services were held Friday, December 18, 2009; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings with Father Joseph M. Walsh officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

Harold was born December 19, 1926 in Adams County, Nebraska to Arthur & Gladys (Rynearson) Bassett. He graduated from Hastings High School. He entered the U.S. Army on May 1, 1945 and served until December 8, 1946. On November 26, 1949, he married Donna Rasmussen at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. He farmed and worked for New Holland in the shipping and receiving department, where he later retired. He was a member of the St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. He was also a school board member for District #15 for several years, as well as a past member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger, Vern, Robert, Jack, Howard, and infant brother, William.
