Harold Klatt

Hastings resident, Harold P. Klatt, 87, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings.

Services will be Monday, November 16, 2009; 2:00 P.M. at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Hastings with Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, November 15, 2009; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M., and Monday, November 16, 2009; 9:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.

Harold was born February 4, 1922 in Ohiowa, Nebraska to Gustav & Gertrude (Allen) Klatt. He graduated from Ponca High School. On September 4, 1942 he entered the Army Air Corps, and was discharged on July 30, 1943. On February 20, 1943, he married Vonna Hayes in Hastings, Nebraska. In 1940, he started working for Hastings Typewriter until 1956 when he started Modern Methods, which was sold in 2006. In 1973, he opened another business called Systems & Services, which was sold in 1991. He was a member of the First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Optimists, Hastings American Legion Post #11, Business Technical Association, UCT, Business Products Council Association, and the Twenty Grand Club. He received the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce "Outstanding Community Service Award" in 2006.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, W. Stewart Klatt.
