Harold Konen

Former Juniata resident, Harold P. Konen, 84, of Hastings, Nebraska passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Mary Lanning Memorial HealthCare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Monday, May 16, 2011; 7:30 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be, Tuesday, May 17, 2011; 10:30A.M. at Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption, Nebraska with Father Thomas Brouillette officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Assumption Cemetery, Assumption, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, May 15, 2011; 3:00 P.M.- 9:00 P.M. and Monday, May 16, 2011; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and 1 hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Assumption Catholic Church.

Harold was born on July 18, 1926 to Bernard and Pauline (Hupf) Konen. On April 21,1954, he married Rita Bolte at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings. She preceded him in death on November 30, 1981. Harold served in the United States Army from September 1, 1950 until January 5, 1952. He also served in the Korean War. He was a lifelong Adams county resident and farmed around the Assumption area. He was a member the Knights of Columbus, American Legion in Juniata and the Eagle's. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, gardening and traveling to Texas for the cold winter months and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rita, brother William Konen and granddaughter Jennifer Konen.
