Hastings resident, Harold D. Martson, 80, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016 at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island, Nebraska.
Services will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016; 10:30 A.M. at Butler Volland Chapel, Hastings with Rev. Dr. Samuel R. Rathod officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Veterans Organizations will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Memorials may be given to Hastings Disabled American Veterans Chapter #9 or Hastings First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, 2016; 10:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. with family present 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Harold was born July 10, 1935 in Hastings, Nebraska to Arvid F. & Lillian M. (Dobesh) Martson. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1953. Harold served in the U.S. Army from September 14, 1955 until June 26, 1957, and received a Purple Heart medal in Korea. Harold married Marlys A. Kindsfater on June 17, 1960 at First United Methodist Church in Hastings. Harold was employed as a health inspector by the City of Hastings until his retirement after 31 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hastings Disabled American Veterans Chapter #9, American Legion Post #11. Harold was a talented artist, avid Husker fan, enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandsons and family. He loved his job and the people he worked with through his job.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents.
