Harold Oye

Hastings resident, Harold William Oye, 92, of 606 Lane H, died Friday, July 3, 2009, at his home.

Services will be Wednesday, July 8, 2009, 10:30 A.M. at All Saints Chapel Good Samaritan Village with Rev. Charles D. Johnson officiating. Burial with military rites will be Wednesday, July 8, 2009; 1:30 P.M. at Blue Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, July 6, 2009; 1:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and Tuesday, July 7, 2009; 9:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Mr. Oye was born June 22, 1917 to August & Alwine (Gosch) Oye in Webster County, near Blue Hill, Nebraska. Harold served his country in the Army during WWII from 1940-1945 in the Hawaiian Islands, Canton Islands, Marshall Islands, Saipan and Okinawa. On August 18, 1946 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Meents at the Rosemont Presbyterian Church. They have been married for 62 years. Harold worked for Timberlock and Lamphiear Construction as a carpenter for over 30 years, until his retirement. He is a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He served as Elder and Deacon at the Second Presbyterian Church in Hastings.

Mr. Oye was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Alfred, Herb, Clarence, Leo, and sister, Elizabeth.
