Harold Polnicky

Hastings resident, Harold S. Polnicky, 83, of 1532 Westwood Terrace, died Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Perkins Pavilion.

Rosary will be Wednesday, October 8, 2008; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 9, 2008; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial with military rites will be Friday, October 10, 2008; 1:30 P.M. at Resthaven Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7, 2008; 5:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, October 8, 2008; 9:00 A.M.-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Thursday, October 9, 2008; 1 hr. prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to V.F.W. or St. Michael's Catholic Church.

Mr. Polnicky was born June 9, 1925 in Webster County, Nebraska on the Polnicky homestead, near Red Cloud, Nebraska to Emil & Mary (Spence) Polnicky. He graduated from Red Cloud High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He served in the United States Army from October 26, 1943 to February 21, 1946. He was an engineer for Boeing Aircraft Wichita, Kansas for 31 years before moving north of Red Cloud, Nebraska where he farmed. On May 9, 1992, he married Rosella M. Massoth at All Saints Church in Wichita, Kansas. They moved to Hastings in 2003. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, and served on the Red Cloud School Board from 1997 until 2000 and was active in the Lions Club, B52 Program, KC135 and Air Force 1, all while working at Boeing.

Mr. Polnicky was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Mary C. Polnicky in 1999.
